BACKGROUND

Originally from Malaysia, I have competed against the odds internationally to achieve accolades at the prestigious United World College of South East Asia (UWCSEA) and Imperial College London. I completed radiology registrar training at the fêted Barts NHS trust and embarked on competitive HPB imaging fellowships at Royal Free Hospital and King’s College Hospital. Prior to registrar training, I also completed and achieved honours in a diagnostic and interventional radiology clerkship at Harvard University (Brigham & Women’s Hospital).

During my registrar training, I took on the additional challenge to complete a part-time Masters in post mortem imaging in forensic and natural death investigations with the University of Leicester under the tutelage of Professor Bruno Morgan and Professor Guy Rutty. I completed my Masters thesis in paediatric post-mortem radiology under the supervision of Professor Owen Arthurs and Assoc. Prof Susan Shelmerdine at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Now, I have taken up a new exciting challenge and have commenced a consultant post across the pond at Bedfordshire NHS Trust as of December 2022. In line with my persona, I have hit the ground running in being involved in multiple roles including setting up the local post mortem imaging services (forensic and natural death), introducing a new contrast-enhanced ultrasound service for hepatobiliary and endovascular services, being on the PACS Integration Committee and East of England Regional Artificial Intelligence Forum.

Additionally, together with my 2 formidable co-founders Assoc. Professor Susan Shelmerdine and Dr Vic Arulchandran, we have created Anubix where we provide expertise in post-mortem imaging including care pathway development, scanning, reporting, staff and public education and medicolegal work. We plan to achieve this through empowering NHS trusts and private healthcare providers to setup and manage their own post-mortem imaging services, enabling them to collaborate and support coronial services, which will provide greater coverage and accessibility to all communities in the UK. We pride ourselves as a charitable business, by ensuring a share of all profits are donated back to the community via charities specifically designed with bereavement counselling and mental health support in mind.
